Wilfried Klenk is State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, Digitisation and Migration. He is a qualified paramedic, and his principal concerns lie in municipal affairs, fire and emergency services, and civil defence. He has been a Member of the State Parliament since 2001 and has also been President of the State Parliament.

Wilfried Klenk was born in Oppenweiler-Ellenweiler in the district of Rems-Murr on 3 March 1959 and grew up on a farm where he still lives today. Prompted by the untimely death of his mother, he became involved from an early age with the German Red Cross and the Volunteer Fire Brigade. He trained to be a paramedic, holding managerial posts at the ambulance station in Murrhardt und Backnang, the emergency services in Stuttgart and the overall control centre of Baden-Württemberg.

As a member of the CDU, Wilfried Klenk has been actively involved in local politics since 1980. For many years he was a member of the municipal council of Oppenweiler, First Deputy Mayor, and also member of the local council of the Rems-Murr district. Klenk has been a member of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2001, and since 2006 has also been on the board of the CDU parliamentary group. From 2015 to 2016 Wilfried Klenk was President of the State Parliament, and thereafter was also Deputy President of the State Parliament. Since April 2018 he has been Political State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior where his principal concerns focus on municipal affairs, fire and emergency services, and civil defence.

Klenk is protestant; he is married and has one adult son.
