Volker Schebesta is state secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.
After his A-levels and military service, Volker Schebesta studied law at the University of Freiburg between 1991 and 1996 and subsequently completed his clerkship at the Offenburg regional court. His career path led him into state administration. Later, Schebesta was licensed to practise as a lawyer and was a partner in a law firm in Offenburg.
In order to play a part in politics, he joined the CDU while he was still at school. Since 2001 he has been member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, representing the constituency of Offenburg. From 2006 until 2011, Schebesta was a spokesman for education policy, from 2011 until 2016 deputy leader and parliamentary executive secretary of the parliamentary CDU in the state parliament.
Volker Schebesta was born on 13 June 1971. He is married and lives with his wife and his four daughters in Offenburg.
