Dr. Gisela Splett
Dr. Gisela Splett is state secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
Gisela Splett was born in Sindelfingen in 1967 and has been living in Karlsruhe since 1992. She is married and has two children. Splett studied geoecology at the University of Bayreuth from 1986 onwards. She obtained a doctorate from the University of Karlsruhe in 1999 on the topic of success monitoring in nature conservation. At the beginning of the 1990s she worked at the Norwegian Institute for Forest Research and from 1992 onwards in state administration at the State Institute for Environmental Protection and on the Karlsruhe regional council.
In 1999 she was elected to the Karlsruhe municipal council to represent the German Green Party. There, she led the (council) Green Party from 2003 until entering the state parliament in 2006 as leader.
Between 2006 and 2016 Gisela Splett was a member of the state parliament for the constituency of Karlsruhe-Ost and in 2011 spokeswoman for environment and development policy for the parliamentary Green party in the state parliament. From 2011 to 2016 she was state secretary with a cabinet-level position in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the designated person for noise control for the state government. In the first green-black coalition, in 2016 Splett was appointed state secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
