Dr. Andre Baumann

Dr. Andre Baumann is the representative of the state of Baden-Württemberg to the Federal Government.

Dr. Andre Baumann was born in 1973 in Heidelberg and grew up in Schwetzingen, where he still lives today with his family. He studied biology at the University of Marburg, focusing particularly on nature conservation and ecology. Parallel to this, Baumann did a second main study course in law, but did not complete it. The biology graduate received his PhD from the University of Regensburg.

In May 2016 he was appointed state secretary in the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector of the state of Baden-Württemberg. He had previously held various posts in environmental associations; most latterly – between 2007 and 2016 – Baumann was full-time state chairman of the NABU Baden-Württemberg, the environmental association in Baden-Württemberg with the largest number of members.
