Manfred “Manne” Lucha is Minister of Social Affairs and Integration.

Manfred “Manne” Lucha was born on 13 March 1961 in Hart an der Alz. After obtaining a secondary school leaving certificate from the general secondary school Garching an der Alz, between 1977 and 1979 he completed training to be a chemical worker and worked in this occupation until 1981.

After his community service in lieu of military service, between 1983 and 1984 he attended the vocational school in Lindau and subsequently trained for three years to become a nurse. When his training was finished, Manne Lucha spent around 25 years working for a social-psychiatric service in the district around Lake Constance, and took responsibility for several social and social-psychiatric projects. In parallel to this, in 1992 he obtained the entitlement to study at an university of applied sciences and started studying social work at the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences; he completed this in 1996.

The Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences was also the place where, between 2002 and 2003, he completed the Master’s programme in Management in Social Services and Public Health.

From 1994 to 2016, Lucha was on the Ravensburg municipal council; this included several years as leader of the (council) Green party. From 1999 to 2016 he was on the district assembly for the administrative district of Ravensburg. Since 2011, Manne Lucha has had a seat in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament as an MP for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen for the constituency of Ravensburg.

Since being sworn in May 2016, he has been responsible for a wide range of matters relating to social and integration policy in his role as Minister of Social Affairs and Integration.

Manne Lucha lives in Ravensburg. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
